MEMBERSHIP
- Members Are Also Owners
- Unlike banks, Clara Barton Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative. The volunteer Board of Directors is made up entirely of members who represent your interests. Since CBFCU is a non-profit organization, excess revenues are passed on to its members through lower rates on loans, fewer fees and better rates on savings.
- Security for Your Funds
- Your accounts at CBFCU are insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. IRA certificates are separately insured up to an additional $100,000.
- Membership Starts with a Savings Account
- It takes just $50.00, deposited into your share savings account, to establish membership in CBFCU. After that, all other low-cost financial services offered by the credit union are available to you.
- Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account
- To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your drivers license or other identifying documents.
